After a jury trial, Steven Knutson and Ronald E. Gudmundson were convicted by a jury of wanton waste of a big game animal, a class A misdemeanor. AS 16.30.010(a). The offense carries a mandatory minimum sentence of seven consecutive days imprisonment and a fine of not less than $2,500. AS 16.30.010(b). District Court Judge John D. Mason imposed fines of $1,250 each, and sentenced each defendant to fifteen days imprisonment, with all but three and one-half days suspended.
